Civil Marriage Ceremonies
At Athenaeum House Hotel


The Athenaeum House Hotel is approved as a suitable venue to hold your Civil Marriage Ceremony. We can advise you of dates available for your special day however to book your Civil Ceremony, couples must apply directly to the Registry Office in our area. On request we would be happy to provide you with contact details for our local Registrar and Pasteur. In order to hold a Civil Ceremony at the Athenaeum House Hotel you are required to contact the Registrar:

The Rothko Room provides the perfect setting for you to take your vows, leaving you only steps away from your Drinks Reception and the rest of your day. Our experienced wedding co-ordinator will assist you with the careful planning of all aspects of your wedding from ceremony through to celebrations afterwards.


Civil Partnerships and Commitment Ceremonies

Legislation was introduced in July 2010 to allow Civil Partnerships between gay couples. The legislation is expected to be introduced in December 2010, and enacted in 2011. We would happy to assist you in planning your Civil Partnership for 2011. In the meantime we are delighted to host Informal Blessings and Commitment Ceremonies for same sex couples in our Rothko Room.  


Marquee Weddings

For numbers over 130 or a wedding with a difference we offer the option of a Marquee set on our lawn overlooking Waterford City and Harbour. Ask our wedding co-ordinator for details of our preferred marquee suppliers.



Accommodation

On the wedding night the Bride and Groom are accommodated with our compliments in our luxurious and spacious Athena Suite with four poster bed and Jacuzzi bath. For your wedding guests, a special overnight Bed & Breakfast rate is available and we can also provide rates for a weekend stay to coincide with the wedding date. We have twenty five Executive en-suite bedrooms available as well as the Hera Suite and the Eros Suite. All residents have full use of the hotel’s facilities.

Your Wedding Day
Terms and Conditions


If required we can provisionally hold a wedding date for a provisional 21days, gibing you time to check arrangements with the church or book a registrar. To confirm the booking a non-refundable deposit of €1500.00 is required to hold the date further.

3 months prior to the wedding reception a further 50% of the estimated wedding cost is required and full payment is requested on the day after the wedding at latest. We would be happy to arrange a Menu Tasting for you at this point, with our compliments, to assist in your Menu and Wine selection. This will give you an opportunity to sample our food and soak up the atmosphere of the room.

  •     The maximum number for the wedding reception is 130. We can cater for a further 25 guests for your after dinner reception.
  • (Note: We can accommodate larger numbers at Marquee Wedding)
  •     All entertainment must be arranged by you in advance with a finishing time for entertainment to be 1.30am
  •     Room Allocation, Menu and Wine selection must be advised at least 1 month prior to wedding date.
  •     The final numbers for the wedding must be submitted 48 hours prior to the wedding date. The final number given for your wedding is the number that the charges will be based on.
  •     For the option of Exclusive Use on your Wedding day and night at least 20 rooms must be booked. Our Wedding rate is €120.00 per room per night regardless of room type and includes Breakfast and Taxes.
  •     Athenaeum House Hotel may cancel the wedding in the event of these circumstances:


1.    The Hotel has reason to believe that the booking may prejudice the reputation of the hotel
2.    The Hotel receives evidence of any adverse alteration to the client’s financial situation
3.    Should any guests attending the event behave in any way considered detrimental, offensive or contrary to the normal standards of behaviour


Contract


A.   DEPOSIT

On receipt of completed booking form together with a non-refundable deposit of €1,500 (One Thousand Five Hundred Euros) a contract will be deemed to exist between The Athenaeum House Hotel (The “Company”) and the person or body booking the Wedding (The “Client”).

B.   CONSIDERATION

In consideration of the payment by the Client of the price of the Event the Company agrees to provide the Event on the date agreed.

C.   CANCELLATION

If a wedding, which has been booked by a Client, is subsequently cancelled then the following conditions shall apply

1.    If wedding is cancelled by the Client 9 months or more prior to the date booked (“the Date”), the Client shall not be charged any amounts additional to the deposit.
2.    If wedding is cancelled less that nine months but more than 3 months prior to the Date the Client shall be charged and invoiced 50% of the estimated value of each place reserved.
3.    If wedding is cancelled less than 3 months but more than 14 days prior to the Date, The Client shall be charged and invoiced 75% of the estimated value of the booking as calculated above.
If wedding is cancelled less that 14 days prior to the Date, the Client shall be charged 100% of the estimated value of the booking as calculated above.


D.    CANCELLATION BY THE COMPANY

The Company reserves the right to cancel the booking on immediate notice if the holding of the Event is prevented by reason beyond its control.  In the event that the booking is cancelled by the Company any monies paid on deposit will be reimbursed and the Company shall not be liable for any other matters whatsoever.

E.    LIABILITY

Neither the Company nor its agents or servants shall be held responsible for any claims for loss or damage to property or for any injuries sustained by those visiting the premises provided that nothing in this agreement shall limit the liability of the Company in respect of death or personal injury caused by the negligence of its employees.

F.     DAMAGE

The Client will be held responsible for and may be requested to pay in full any or all damages caused to the property of the Company by the Client or Client’s guests that occur during or as a consequence of the event held and/or visit.  All charges will be at the discretion of the management of the Company.

G.     AGREEMENT
